Black Nilgiri BOP
Our Black Nilgiri tea is from the organic Korakundah tea estate. At an elevation of nearly 8,000 feet, Korakundah is one of the highest tea gardens in the world. Growing tea at this elevation produces a refined and aromatic bright tea. Our broken leaf Nilgiri produces a slightly bolder cup with lots of flavour and vigour.
The organic teas we import are artisanally farmed and crafted. They may change with each harvest season. The same tea harvested at a different time of year and processed by a different tea maker will vary slightly in flavour and finish.
|Origin||Korakundah Estate, Kerala, India|
|Tasting Notes||A refreshing classic pekoe tea with a bright and smooth cup. The liquor is a beautiful, clear amber with a nice and lingering flavour.|
The Kerala mountains, also known as the Blue Mountains, located in the southwestern tip of India, is an area known for its flavourful smooth black teas. The region's cool climate and consistent mist and rain create an ideal environment for tea growing. Many of the tea gardens are located at elevations of several thousand feet. The proximity to the equator and the fact that the temperatures remain fairly steady at such high altitude all affect the tea produced here.
